What are the open positions?

All of our positions are open. More precisely, we're trying to fill the positions listed below. We even include a small description of the position.

Our position's descriptions are taken from our bylaw. You can also consult them to obtain the complete description.

President

The President is the chief executive officer of the confederation. He or she sees to the execution of the decisions of the Board of Directors and signs all the documents requiring his or her signature. He or she represents the confederation and presides over official receptions, and is the official spokesperson for the confederation. He or she is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supporting the leaders in their tasks.


executive vice-president

The Executive Vice-President attends meetings of the members and of the board of directors, and writes the minutes thereof. He or she has custody of the seal of the Confederation, the register of minutes and all other corporate registers. He or she ensures compliance with the bylaw and policies. The Executive Vice-President assists the President in his or her functions.


vice-president finance

The Vice-President Finance is responsible for and keeps the funds of the Confederation and its books of account. He or she keeps a precise statement of the assets and liabilities as well as the receipts and disbursements of the Confederation, in one or more books and registers appropriate for this purpose. He or she draws up an annual budget for the Confederation and ensures compliance with the budget forecasts of the Confederation and its major events. He or she is responsible for drafting and presenting the financial statements of the Confederation, and liaising with the financial auditor of the latter.


VICE-PReSIDENt Academic affairs

The Vice-President Academic Affairs is responsible for the execution of the academic, educational and academic defense of students. He or she is responsible for carrying out research and putting together credible arguments on the issues targeted as being priorities by the Confederation, performs representation to different stakeholders to advance the cause of engineering students in Quebec, and coordinates all collective action in this sense.


VICE-President internal affairs

The Vice-President Internal Affairs is responsible for maintaining constant communication between the executive committee of the Confederation and the representatives of the member associations. He or she is responsible for ensuring the logistical preparation of congresses with the associations hosting them and must ensure that the challenges of these congresses are understood by the member associations. He or she is responsible for maintaining a presence with member associations through, in particular, association tours and must ensure that he or she is the point of contact between the executive committee of the Confederation and the member associations.


Vice-president public affairs

The Vice-President Public Affairs is responsible for carrying out mandates pertaining to defending the rights of students in the public sphere. He or she is responsible for carrying out research and putting together credible arguments on the issues targeted as being priorities by the Confederation, performs representation to different stakeholders to advance the cause of engineering students in Quebec, and coordinates all collective action in this sense. In addition, he or she is in charge of maintaining and developing the Confederation’s relationships with any organization, group or person external to the Confederation and its member associations. Finally, he or she ensures a media presence for the Confederation, monitors the news concerning the members of the confederation, writes content to inform member associations and individual members, and suggests, if necessary, the reaction of the Confederation.


VICE-PReSIDENt COMMUNICATIONS

The Vice-President Communications is responsible for the promotional activities of the Confederation. He or she is responsible for planning and executing communication campaigns to promote the engineering student movement. He or she is also responsible for the image of the Confederation and the editorial lines surrounding the use of its communication channels. He or she is responsible for coordinating communications activities through the Confederation's communication channels. He or she is also responsible for monitoring the social networks of member associations of the Confederation. He or she is also responsible for maintaining the Confederation’s website.


Member of the board of directors

Members of the Board of Directors administer the affairs of the confederation and pass, in their name, all the contracts that the confederation would validly pass. The Board of Directors oversee monitoring and control of organizing committees of major events and oversee finances, legal obligations and operations.

The Board of Directors is composed of the following members:

  • President

  • Vice-president Finance

  • President-organizer of Engineering Games

  • President-organizer of Québec Engineering Competition

  • Wisepersons (2)

  • Free student (2)

  • Large member societies representative

  • Small member societies representative

  • Representative of all member societies

The open positions for the Board are the chairs reserved for wisepersons, free students and Representants of members societies.


Chair of the Board of directors

The chair of the Board of Directors shares his or her experience and understanding of confederation issues. He or she sees the smooth running of the Board's meetings and take the necessary measures to make him fulfill his functions and powers. He or she collaborates with the executive of the confederation so that the Board's resolutions are realized. He or she prepares the Board's meeting agendas with the collaboration of the executive and ensures that all relevant documents are submitted to the Board. He or she get informed by the executive of all important elements that should be brought to the attention of the Board and ensures that the executive, caucuses and member's assembly submit to the Board all the questions which are their responsibility.

To apply, you have to be eligible. Our bylaw provides eligibility modalities.

N.B.: The supports from member societies will be given during the annual regular congress. More information to come!

 
 

Executive COMMITTEE positions

To be eligible, you need to be registered in an undergraduate program accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) et received the support of your student society or two other member student society. You must provide a motivation letter having at least 250 words. If the position of president interests you, this letter has to have at least 500 words.

 

Chair of the board of directors

The chair of the Board of Directors is not submitted to the regular ballot. This person must be nominated by the Board. To be eligible, you must have been a member of a Board of Directors or the executive of a student society or a grouping of member societies for at least two years. We also recommend writing a motivation letter.

positions in the member of directors

To be eligible, you must be registered in an undergraduate program accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and have the support of your student society or two other member student societies. You must also provide a motivation letter of 250 words.

However, the Board of Directors positions has additionals modalities. Here they are: 

  • For positions reserved to free students, you cannot be a member of the Board or an executive of a member student society or QCESO.

  • For positions reserved to members society representatives, you must be the chief executive officer or the manager of the relations with QCESO of your student society.

  • For positions reserved to wisepersons, you need to have received the title of wiseperson of QCESO. It's also the only position you can apply to.

I’m eligible, how can I apply?

You must send your application to Annie, our chief returning officer, at the following address: elections@creiq.qc.ca! Make sure to join:

  • Your motivation letter

  • Proof of school attendance (if you need to be registered in an undergraduate program to be eligible)

Make sure to be available for twenty minutes for a presentation to members during the Annual Regular Congress.

The deadline to apply is announced every year!

How can I know if my engineering student society is a member of QCESO?

You can look at the member societies to check!

How can I obtain the support of my student society?

Supports are given by member societies during the Annual Regular Congress.

I'm eligible for the student member societies representative. Which one to chose?

If you come from a large society, you can apply to the position reserved for large member societies representative. If you come from a small society, you can apply to the position reserved for small member societies representative. Either way, you can also apply to the representative of all member student societies. The list of our societies according to their size can be found on page 22 of our bylaw!
